Hmong women’s clothing is incredibly intricate and beautiful. Often involving yards of fabric and upwards of ten separate pieces.

Hmong women’s clothing starts with a blouse, a pair of pants or a pleated skirt, and a waist band.  Sometimes, a long apron-like piece will be attached to the waist band in the front.  Hmong women’s clothing often decorated with hundreds of gold or silver coins, and features delicate hand stitching called Paj ntaoub.  In some clans, Hmong women’s clothing includes distinctive headwear and large necklaces of gold or silver coins.  All Hmong women’s clothing is colorful and intricately designed.
